Philippine Pavilion
Art Power Exhibit
2000 Hannover Expo

GOAL

The Philippines has always been famed for its outlandish politics and practically mythical history. So how do you positively represent 7 thousand islands to 7 continents? Exhibit its 76 million people. That is why the theme of the Philippine Pavilion in the biggest international event EXPO 2000 HANOVER is "Filipino: The Power of the People"

Informative but aesthetic, impressive but mobile for easy transport, the exhibit for the Art Power section of this huge international event is no easy feat. But not impossible.

KEY

A photomural divided into seven modules representing the seven arts (music, dance, theater, visual arts, architecture, film and literature) was built. Layered images printed on clear films with specially designed lighting were utilized for each module. As a whole the layering of the graphics combined produced depth, dimension and movement to the images. The layered art were used also to depict the exhibit theme.

EXECUTION

A four-layered photomural with a total size of 21 meters wide and 1.3 meters high was produced. In addition, eleven sets of life-sized posters were created all in full color print on clear film material.
